Goldfinch Room: David Williamson

Back to Events

The Goldfinch Room series returns to the Celebrity Café space this summer on the ground floor of Stephens Auditorium, and the next act on the summer schedule is David Williamson!

David Williamson is a native Iowan known best as a sculptor and poet. What has informed much of his studio work is a behind the scenes career as a songwriter and musician. David is a 2018 Iowa Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame inductee and is a founding member of The Bushmen from Jefferson, IA. In 1966, this band actually played an outdoor summer gig at Friley Hall at Iowa State University. He now often performs acoustically with Bushmen percussionist, Hank Muzney. They appear as 2B UNPLUGGED yet David also performs solo as a singer/songwriter. Several of his compositions can be heard on Soundcloud.com here.

During his solo performance at The Goldfinch Room, he will share recent compositions including “Little Rock,” a tune that explores a 60-year connection between his childhood in Garner, IA and a 50,000 watt rock’n’roll radio station in Arkansas. David has appeared numerous times on IPTV and for 15 years was a frequent guest of WHO-AM Farm Radio broadcaster Lee Kline.
