The Goldfinch Room: Mississippi Jake & Buz Owen – SOLD OUT

Back to Events

This show is currently SOLD OUT with only a few “limited view” and GA seats available.

We are pleased to announce our next Iowa Songwriters Showcase at The Goldfinch Room on Friday, October 11 featuring Mississippi Jake and Buz Owen.

Mississippi Jake is storytelling, working class, folk music from the Midwest. Not the kind of folk that lulls you to sleep, the kind with teeth. He brings folklore from the hills of the Ozarks to the Midwestern stage. He tells fact and fiction with honest guitar chords and gravel in his voice. Solo or alongside his Bootleggers Orchestra, Mississippi Jake showcases one-of-a-kind folk with teeth. www.mississippijake.com

Buz Owen is a multi-instrumentalist out of Marshalltown, IA exploring folkways in modern life. His songs concern the worried, the worn, and the satisfactions that help us survive. Although mostly known for his mandolin and clawhammer banjo stylings, you can often find him posted up in the corner of a barroom armed with a guitar and harmonica. You can find Buz’s new EP, “Rooster In Your Crate”, on Spotify and wherever digital music is sold. https://buzowen.bandcamp.com/
