About Young Concert Artisits

Young Concert Artists (YCA) is a professional organization founded in 1961 to discover and launch the careers of brilliant, but unknown, young musicians from all over the world. YCA performers are selected through annual auditions – but they are competing against a standard of excellence - not each other. The only criteria are extraordinary talent, technique, and impact upon the listener.

Among the artists who began their careers with Young Concert Artists are violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Ani Kavafian, and Ida Kavafian; pianists Murray Perahia, Emanuel Ax, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Ruth Laredo; flutists Paula Robison and Eugenia Zukerman; the Tokyo, St. Lawrence and Borromeo String Quartets; cellists Fred Sherry and Carter Brey; and sopranos Marvis Martin and Dawn Upshaw. Young Concert Artists, discoverer of today’s greatest talents, is also devoted to creating future music-lovers. YCA artists give extensive educational and mini-residencies, talking to and playing for over 50,000 students each year, before or after their formal concerts.
