Professor Ruth Lin conducts the 80-member ISU Symphony Orchestra in a program including selections from Bizet’s L’Arlésienne Suite and Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathurstra (theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey). Ms. Lin will narrate the program, chosen to feature different sections of the orchestra and their unique timbres, highlighting the unique characteristics of each musical selection and helping students listen for specific musical features. For many, it will be their first trip to hear a live concert and learn about the orchestra – a very special team – and how they work together to make great music.

Instrument Petting Zoo
Stay for an optional instrument “petting zoo” following the performance, which gives students a close-up opportunity to see and hear the instruments of the orchestra individually.
