Chanticleer takes the stage May 1 at 7:30pm.

Chanticleer, a Grammy Award-winning “orchestra of voices” was named Ensemble of the Year by Musical America in 2008. The San Francisco Chronicle praised Chanticleer for their “tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity.”

Named for the “clear-singing” rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, Chanticleer was founded in 1978. Called “the world’s reigning male chorus” by The New Yorker Magazine, Chanticleer has since become known around the world for the seamless blend of its voices, ranging from soprano to bass.

Audiences delight in its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to adventurous new music.

Audiences praise Chanticleer’s crystal clear voices and the engaging stage presence of these twelve consummate musicians.
