Hailing from historic County Waterford, the Irish ensemble Danú has thrilled audiences everywhere with music that lifts the spirit.
Danú’s six members bring high energy to each concert and evoke their native Ireland with a glorious mix of traditional and new music. Danú’s talents shine on the flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion and bouzouki, which all mesh perfectly with vocals in both Irish and English.
Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles playing today. Their standing-room-only concerts throughout Ireland are true “events” featuring a memorable journey with vibrant, young musicians.
These virtuosi players have performed around the globe and recorded seven critically acclaimed albums. Winners of numerous awards from the BBC and Irish Music magazine, Danú has toured Europe, the Middle East, and North America with stops at The Hollywood Bowl, New York City’s Symphony Space and major concerts in the U.K., India and Israel.
Their live DVD, One Night Stand, was filmed in Dublin. Danú’s recordings are available on the Shanachie label and performances are often broadcast on National Public Radio in the U.S., the CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation) and the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).
